I bought couple of starters on eBay from here, but never having tried sourdough bakng I thought it would be good to try making my own starter first to work out the procedures needed to grow a starter.
I'm working on day 6 and Fern is going strong. Plan is once she's up and going to dry some out in case something goes wrong she'll still be with me. Mr. Mayagi said it best " First learn crawl, then learn walk, then learn run".
Well I lost one of Fern to mold but it was on the door not in the back where I keep the main jar.
So started a new one that will stay in the back with the main jar. Something to consider when storing in the refrigerator.
Fern has finally developed a good sourdough flavor now, before she had a little tang to her but now she's a full on sourdough. You taste her now and you know your eating sourdough. So keep stirring in the hooch!
It’s great to hear that your sourdough starter, Fern, is thriving! Starting from scratch is a fantastic way to understand the process and build a strong foundation for future baking adventures. Drying some of your starter is a wise precaution, ensuring you always have a backup in case of unexpected circumstances. As Mr. Mayagi wisely said, taking things one step at a time is essential for coursework writing service success. Happy baking!
